David Shea is an Australian-based American musician and composer who is a key figure from the 1980s New York Downtown experimental music scene. He has performed and collaborated with John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot and Bill Laswell. Working with samplers, turntables, drum machines, sequencers and acoustic instrumentation, Shea moves between electroacoustics, pop, jazz and esoterica in the space of a single piece.

For Volume, David Shea will perform as part of the Strings program and present a new composition using the ‘electromagnetic piano’ at the Lawrence English (Room40)  co-curated North and South program on Wednesday 4 October.
