  • Ticket FAQs

    Are tickets required?
Tickets are required for some events in the festival. Please check the particular event you are interested in for further information.

    Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets can also be booked in person at the Art Gallery (subject to availability), either at the welcome desk at the South Building or at the Welcome hub at the North Building. We strongly recommend that you book your tickets online in advance as events can sell out.

Tickets booked online will be provided by email, which can be scanned from your mobile device or printed for entry into the event. One QR code covers all tickets in your order. You may also be asked for a concession card if you have a concession ticket or identification to prove your age for an age-restricted event.

    Is there a booking fee?
No. The Art Gallery does not currently charge booking fees for tickets.

What if I don't receive an email with my booking?
If you don’t receive an email confirmation and can’t access your account to retrieve your ticket, please email ticketing@ag.nsw.gov.au with details of your order or call our box office on 02 9225 1627 Monday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.

What happens if I can’t attend something I have booked?
Tickets for events cannot be exchanged or refunded. All sales are non-refundable except if the event is cancelled or rescheduled as iterated in the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice for Ticketing of Live Entertainment in Australia. If something unexpected happens that prevents you from attending, call our box office on 02 9225 1627 or enquire at the welcome desk at the South Building or the Welcome hub at the North Building. For some free events, a ‘cancel’ option is included in your confirmation email. Please use this option so your ticket can be released to others.

Can someone else use my ticket?
There are no names on tickets so they can be used by anyone, regardless of who bought it. Each ticket is valid for a single entry; however, staff will accommodate re-entry to the same event in certain circumstances.

    Do members need tickets?
Members of the Art Gallery of New South Wales receive many benefits, including access to Volume tickets and discounts. You can become a member at the Welcome hub at the North Building, at the welcome desk or Members Lounge in the South Building, or you can join online.

    What is a concession?
If you hold a Full Time Student Card, Senior’s Card, Health Care Card, Veterans Affairs Card, Pensioner Card, NAVA Membership Card, you are eligible for a concession ticket. Please bring your card with you as you may be asked to show it at the entry.

What if I have a companion card?
If you are a companion card holder and wish to attend a ticketed event at Volume, call our box office on 02 9225 1627 Monday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.

Who is the authorised ticket seller for Volume?
The authorised agency for this event is the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Only tickets purchased by authorised agencies should be considered reliable. If you purchase tickets from a non-authorised agency such as Ticketmaster Resale, Viagogo, Ticketbis, eBay, Gumtree, Tickets Australia or any other unauthorised seller, you risk that these tickets are fake, void or have previously been cancelled. Resale restriction applies.
