Sonya Holowell is a Dharawal and Inuk contemporary musician who pushes the boundaries of the voice through performance and installation. One of the premiere contemporary classical vocalists currently performing in Australia, Holowell was the first musician commissioned by the Art Gallery to create new work for exhibition. Launched in December 2022, her composition ‘chamberconveyer’ was presented in the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ South Building vestibule and created a unique entry and exit sequence in music for visitors.   

For Volume, Sonya Holowell will also perform as part of the Tones program.
