Mon 25 Sep – Sat 7 Oct 10am – 12.30pm or 2–4.30pm
Wonderpole ensemble
Build your own digital synthesiser over five days in a workshop led by Datu Arellano and supported by Filipino artist Toni Muñoz. No experience is required for the workshop, which is suitable for all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Join us at the Art Gallery for 2.5 hours each day as Datu first gives an overview of the process of designing and building a Wonderpole, a unique pole-shaped synthesier based on the Arduino software program. You’ll then be guided in building and tweaking the program of your own Wonderpole. At the end of the workshop period, you’ll have the opportunity to perform in public with the other participants as the Wonderpole ensemble.
The Wonderpole was originally created by Datu Arellano (visual artist, musician, maker) and Malek Lopez (composer, music producer, electronic musician) in 2019 as part of an event organised by CREATE PH and Manila International Performing Arts Market. Datu has designed and built a simpler version of the Wonderpole for Volume, which has been adapted for collaboration, community and the workshop context.
